Utilities & DCS Design Senior Engineer

Our main growth drivers are:
- Energy Efficiency Performance Contracts (EEPC) where we sell utilities to our Clients (Chilled Water, Compressed Air, Steam, Hot Water)
- District Cooling Systems (DCS) with 5 existing plants in Malaysia, the Philippines and Singapore with several other projects under study regionally
- Off-grid solutions to manage the demand-side of the Energy : Micro-grid, on-site Energy production (Biogas, Biomass, Electrical batteries, EV charging, Fuel-cells, Hydrogen…)
- Renewable Energy with >150MW of Rooftop and Large-Scale Solar and has developed a 1 GW pipe and ambition to take leadership position in Malaysia and the Philippines
- Integrated Facilities Management (FM).
- Acquisition of companies in South East Asia in various fields (DCS, FM, M&E Construction, Data Center, Refrigeration, and the like)
REPORTING LINE:
- Utilities & DCS Design Senior Engineer would report to the Senior Design Manager, and will be part of the Regional Technical Office
- Utilities & DCS Design Senior Engineer will lead HVAC Design Engineering team (1 person at the moment) in charge of conceptual designs
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Projects types:
- Chilled water energy performance contracts
- District Cooling Systems
- Industrial utilities such as Compressed Air, Steam plant, hot oil systems, refrigeration plants…
- During concept design stage:
- Lead conceptual design for Chilled water energy performance contracts and District cooling systems, by:
- Providing sizing for the main equipment (chiller, pumps, cooling towers) with the projects constraints in mind (efficiency target, level of CAPEX, site constraints, operation and maintenance constraints…)
- Supervise external technical consultants and review / validate their deliverables
- Provide inputs for CAPEX and OPEX assessment
- Commit to the system efficiency
- Support Business Development team in discussions / presentations to the client
- Support conceptual design for Industry utilities
- Review, challenge and validate concept design proposed by local teams
- During detailed design stage:
- Supervise the detailed design outsourced to reputable consultants: review the P&IDs, validate the control strategy of the systems and I/O points
- Coordinate with the different project stakeholders (client, consultants, Qualified Person / Professional Engineer, vendors, contractors…) to ensure a smooth flow of information and ensure the design is developed in collaboration with all parties
- Establish the equipment specifications for the tendering process
- Review equipment vendors offers and ensure technical compliance – recommend preferred vendor
- Review contractors offers and ensure technical compliance
- Support project management team during the construction works to validate variations and ensure the technical compliance of the works
- Others:
- Develop excel tools, as the need arise, in order to standardize design calculations and deliverables
- Look at the market to propose robust and innovative technical solutions
- Operational relations:
- External : Suppliers, Contractors, Equipment manufacturers, services providers, consultants
- Internal : Regional Technical office team, local entities from Singapore, Philippines, Malaysia and Australia, Digital solutions team, Business development team
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education
- Degree in Thermal, Mechanical, electrical engineering or equivalent
- Additional specialisation, certificate in chemical engineering will be an advantage
Experience
- Past experience of at least 10 years as design engineer / manager for district cooling, industrial multi-utilities project or large scale building cooling systems
- Experience in Operation & Maintenance, control systems, would be an advantage
- Understanding of risk management in the energy services industry,
Specific skills
- Ability to work (speak, read, write) fluently in English
- Excellent knowledge of usual IT tools (Excel, Power BI, Word, powerpoint…)
