ENGIE Announces Leadership Transition in Southeast Asia

SINGAPORE, 30 June 2026 – ENGIE, a global leader in low-carbon energy and services, today announced a leadership transition in Southeast Asia and its Supply & Energy Management business in Asia Pacific following Varun Gujral’s departure.

Varun Gujral, a founding member of ENGIE’s Supply & Energy Management business in the region since 2012, played a pivotal role in establishing, scaling and expanding the business throughout the region — including building platforms in strategic markets such as Japan and India — while strengthening the Group’s regional trading and energy transition capabilities. He served in a dual leadership capacity as Country Manager for Southeast Asia and CEO of Supply & Energy Management Asia Pacific.

Effective 1 July 2026, Jacques Boonen will assume the additional role of Country Manager for Southeast Asia, alongside his current responsibilities as Managing Director of Local Energy Infrastructures Southeast Asia, and Jules Dufournier will assume the role of Managing Director of Supply & Energy Management Asia Pacific.

“Varun has made a significant contribution to ENGIE’s development in Asia Pacific and laid a strong foundation for future growth in the region” said Rik De Buyserie, Regional Vice President, Transformation and Geographies, Africa and APAC “On behalf of ENGIE, I would like to thank Varun for his leadership and everything he has built over the last 14 years; I am pleased to welcome Jacques as Country Manager for Southeast Asia. His leadership experience positions ENGIE well for the opportunities ahead.”

Jacques brings extensive experience in strategy, operations and sustainable transformation. Since joining ENGIE in 2008, he has held senior leadership roles across Europe, North America and Asia. Since 2025, he has led ENGIE’s Local Energy Infrastructures division, expanding ENGIE’s low-carbon infrastructure and integrated decarbonisation solutions.

Jules brings over 25 years of experience in energy markets. Since joining ENGIE in 2002, he has developed deep leadership expertise across Europe and Asia Pacific, playing a key role in growing the Group’s Supply & Energy Management activities.

These appointments reflect ENGIE’s continued commitment to the region and its role in supporting customers and stakeholders in advancing the energy transition.
